Convert common units

International inch/foot/yard/mile; no US survey units.

Number format help

Use a period for decimals; ASCII + or - and e exponents are accepted. No grouping commas, internal spaces or locale-specific digits.

Help & FAQs

Choose your units and enter a value. Convert length, mass, area, volume, temperature, time or data storage, then copy or save the result.

How to convert units

  1. Choose a category and the source and destination units.
  2. Enter a number using a period decimal point and select Convert.
  3. Review the result, copy it, save TXT or explicitly use it as the next input.

Definitions and limits

Lengths use international inch (0.0254 m), foot, yard and mile, not US survey units. Pound and ounce use avoirdupois mass. Volume uses US liquid gallon (3.785411784 L), not Imperial or dry measures. Area units square the matching length; a hectare is 10,000 m². Ratios are based on NIST SI conversion tables and the BIPM SI prefixes.

Celsius/Fahrenheit/Kelvin are absolute temperatures and cannot fall below −273.15 °C, −459.67 °F or 0 K. Time is elapsed duration: a day is 24 hours and a week is seven days. Calendar months, years, time zones, currency and custom units are not included.

Numeric syntax is the same in all page languages: ASCII digits, period decimal, optional ASCII + or - and optional e exponent. ASCII whitespace may surround the number, but grouping and locale-specific digits are rejected. Input is at most 80 characters, with 0 or magnitude 1e-100 to 1e100 for both input and output. Browser precision is finite; this is not an arbitrary-precision or certified scientific calculator.

Processing, copy and TXT generation stay on this page. Changing a value or unit clears the old result; swapping units preserves the value. Use result as input explicitly uses the displayed rounded output, exchanges the source and destination units and keeps the category. No input or result is stored or sent in analytics.

Common questions

Why are MB and MiB different?

MB is 1,000,000 bytes; MiB is 1,048,576 bytes. The tool labels decimal and binary units separately, and one byte is eight bits.

Are results exact to every digit?

No. Ratios follow the named definitions, but computation uses browser binary floating-point arithmetic and displays up to 12 significant digits. The next-input action uses that rounded displayed value.
